There’s a Gambian Food Stall that has opened up at Deptford Market; you can catch them there on Fridays and the weekends – I have forgotten their name (hope to update you guys soon) but I certainly haven’t forgotten to remind our community that there are a host of small-medium sized Gambian inspired supper clubs and food popup shops humbly scattered within London’s diverse African Food Joints Scene.

Do checkout some who are not featured here such as Mai Ceesay and Ousman Mbye who are seasoned and very good Gambian sous chefs. There are more than 20 Gambian inspired foodie places in London actually and below are some of the Best Five that you can look forward to:

They have fresh arrivals of ‘Kabba’, Delicious Palm oil from Guinea and Bisaap Amut amongst others from their East Ham base. An essential Gambian supermarket based in the heart of East London – do pay them a visit and mention how you found out about them via this blog post. The staff are very friendly also – and they have a van that regularly travels to the midlands and north of the country to serve the community outside London – #Good on them =)

Afro-Brit Cuisine, London based; and started by two Gambian brothers – what more can you ask for! Since launching in 2013 PaPa Spice have enjoyed sold out Pop Up restaurant events in popular artisan London hangouts in Angel Islington, Hoxton and Harrow Road enjoying upto 700 foodies per event. One of the goals of Lawrence and Farra Gomez is  is to make PaPa Spice a big success and be the first to give everyone the knowledge about AfroBrit cuisine. They are certainly well well on the way.

Yassa, Peanut Butter Lamb Stew and more are available within this humble corner shop style restaurant in East Ham. The service here is very friendly and the food even better. Lovely fresh flavours and cooked to perfection. This place is highly recommended for anyone looking for a good value and delicious meal. Really friendly staff too!
