2) Funds Lawyer (London)
This current team of funds lawyers provides advice principally to fund managers establishing closed ended private equity style funds with a focus on key sectors including real estate, energy, infrastructure, debt and buy-out funds. 3) Portfolio Manager (Equity Africa)
Hedge Invest SGR (“HI”) is seeking to hire the portfolio manager (“PM”) for one of the Ucits alternative funds within its Ireland-based SICAV, a long-short equity focused on Africa (the “Fund”). The Fund will be managed by a UK company majority-owned by HI, with AUM currently at ca. EUR 25ml and potential for growth.
The PM is responsible for investing a long-short portfolio of publically listed equity securities across all markets in Africa. When communicating investment ideas, the PM must be able to generate detailed financial forecasts, as well as peer group and industry analysis. 4) Research Associate (African Ecological System Project)
The Centre for Biodiversity and Environment Research is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to contribute to and lead aspects of the research on the Dynamics of African Ecosystem project at The Collen Lab http://www.collenlab.org/opportunities.html
Dynamics of African Ecosystem project The project aims to develop a mechanistic general ecosystem model that can be applied at fine scales to understand the impact of land use, climate and bushmeat hunting on the structure of African ecosystems. The post holder will be expected to undertake the development of an existing general ecosystem model, to apply the model to understand changes in ecosystems, and to write up this research for publication in international, peer-reviewed journals.
This post is funded until 31 May 2019 the first instance and is available from January 2017.

The successful candidate must hold (or be close to obtaining) a PhD degree in a relevant subject, e.g. ecological modelling, ecosystem modelling, conservation science coupled with comprehensive knowledge in research techniques and methodologies. 12) Research Associate (International Human Rights & Justice Interventions in Africa)
The Centre of Governance and Human Rights (CGHR) invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate working on the politics of international human rights and justice interventions in Africa. The appointment will be for 12 months.
The successful candidate will have:
Candidates should have a PhD (or at least have passed their viva) in a relevant field, such as politics, international relations, African studies and development studies. They should provide evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level, as well as a strong interest in engagement in empirically-grounded and multi-disciplinary research. Candidates should demonstrate research expertise and sustained interest in the domestic and international politics of rights and justice based interventions in Africa. 13) Research Fellow in Virology (Ghana, West Africa)
The main focus of this research funded by MRC UK is to determine key aspects of the dynamics of filovirus infections in reservoir bat species in Ghana, West Africa. The successful candidate will develop and standardise pseudotype virus-based serological assays that will enable a more detailed study of filoviruses in West African bats. These assays will be used to determine serological responses to those viruses, which will identify key epidemiological patterns of how the viruses persist and are transmitted in their bat reservoirs. Ultimately the assays will be transferred to our existing collaborator’s lab in Ghana, thereby enhancing the public health responses to these infections – local responses, informed by local knowledge.
